KiwiSaver – Best thing since ‘sliced bread’

REsources_Saving

KiwiSaver – Best thing since sliced bread BUT – are YOU getting “YOUR slice”?

KiwSaver is making a fundamental improvement to people’s financial position!

Yet many are still NOT getting their fair slice, by not contributing – at least the minimum.

Often it’s those people who are NOT on PAYE and over 18 years old e.g. homemakers, teenage students, self employed.

For instance, there are many homemakers who’ve joined kiwiSaver yet NO ONE is contributing to their account – the minimum $20 / week ($1,042 per year).

So they’re missing out on :

  1. the Government’s KiwiSaver tax credit of $10 / week ($521 per year),    AND
  2. on the 1st home buyers “homestart subsidy” of $1,000 per year.

That’s a ‘big slice’ to be missing out on!

Especially when you consider:

  1. You can use the whole lot as a deposit towards your 1st home – subject to criteria, AND
  2. ANYONE can put $20 / week minimum required into their KiwiSaver to ensure they get their ‘fair share’.

How ‘disappointed’ would you (and/or your partner) be to find you’ve missed out on money that could have contributed towards your 1st home deposit?

All for the sake of not knowing  you could have put $20 / week into your partners kiwiSaver account,  or parents could have put $20 / week into their 18+ year old teenagers kiwiSaver account.
